Note
CS Degree Day 99
The penultimate day
I am sitting here at 2am, which is where most of this project has been lived. The appropriate hour for it.
100 days ago I had a biology degree and a working knowledge of computer science I had assembled from experience, books and documentations. I had a vague sense that there was an architecture to that I was missing - a foundation I had built over rather than on.
I have now seen that architecture. Not in every detail. Not with the fluency of someone who spent four years on a campus where these ideas were in the air, discussed over lunch, challenged by professors who had spent decades with them. But I have seen the shape of it. From logic gates to operating systems, from calculus to neural networks, from boolean algebra to backpropagation, from assembly to algorithms. The connective tissue is visible to me now in a way it was not.
